A former evangelical Navy chaplain hopes that president-elect Barack Obama will not take actions aimed at completely removing any vestige of Christianity from the United States military. One News Now
“And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.”
Acts 26:6–7
Help supply the world’s greatest demand by sharing God’s message of salvation with others.
Early in his career, Thomas Edison invented a vote-recording machine for use in legislative chambers. By moving a switch to the right or left, an official could vote for or against a proposal without leaving his desk. The machine would replace the tedious business of marking ballots, counting them, etc. Elated with the prospects, Edison obtained a patent—his first—and headed for Washington.
Eagerly, he demonstrated his machine to the Chairman of Congressional Committees. This gentleman, while complimenting Edison on his ingenuity, promptly turned it down. “Filibustering and delay in the tabulation of votes are often the only means we have for defeating bad or improper legislation.” he told Edison.
The young inventor was stunned. The invention was good; he knew it and the chairman knew it. Still, it wasn't wanted. Said Edison later: “There and then I made a vow that I would never again invent anything which was not wanted.”
Think of all the great inventions that have helped us over the years! Where would we be without the telephone, automobiles, or indoor plumbing? But have you ever thought of the hundreds of inventions that never made it into production? Ideas that were disregarded as useless or unneeded?
When it comes to Christianity, there is one demand or need that everyone has. Something that no one can go without! It may not seem to be needful to those that don’t have it, but once you experience it, it changes your life forever. That need is salvation. Christ offers it through His death on Calvary.
There is a great demand for salvation. People may not be standing in line, waiting for salvation, but they need to hear the salvation message. As Christians, it’s our job to tell them of salvation, to get the word out about God’s life-changing gift!
Aren’t you thankful someone shared God’s gift with you? And hasn’t it changed your life for the better? Let someone else share in that joy as well! Take time today to share God’s message of hope with someone else. Let them know He cares and has provided a home in Heaven for whoever will believe in Him. Help supply the world’s greatest demand by sharing God’s message of salvation with others today.
